I don�t tend to need much WiFi when I�m away but it is handy for looking up odd things on my iPad & also I normally tend to take my fire stick from home when away for odd little bits on wet days. The trouble is iPhone aerials are not particularly good & they think everyone lives in a city. I think from the tiny amount I�ve read something like aMiFi I think they call them & an aerial to go with it, obviously there�s the cost but having a SIM card it seems to need I gather but having one that doesn�t roll over at the end of the month. I only tend to get one week away & the odd extended bank holiday hence I don�t want to have a monthly sim subscription. I could use my iPhone as a hot spot if there was signal but often where were at the iPhone aerial is useless

I am a self confessed Ludite, getting my first smart phone only a year ago.
We holiday in France for usually 4-6 weeks each summer, so I bought a TP-Link 4G router. https://www.johnlewis.com/tp-link-m7350-...router/p3129652 I ran this with a Smarty data only sim card last summer and it worked very well. https://smarty.co.uk/all-plans#data-only
We are just back from 10 days in Lincolnshire, Norfolk/Suffolk borders and Essex. For this I took our 3 4G router with us and had fairly good wi-fi, watching Netflix some nights. We use this router at home as internet via "landline" is so poor.
If we did not have this option open to us when in the UK I would use a set-up favoured by many on the C&MC forum. The TP-Link router with a 120GB pay as you go EE sim card, only available from Argos.
