642 Whoops!

I've just spotted an Autotrader ad for a 2024 642. It's not far from home, on the Wirral.

Details of spec. are fairly sparse, but what struck me were the weights.

It's got the standard 1400kg MTPLM but the MIRO is 1362kg, leaving just 38kg for all the things you load in a van.

I couldn't believe it so I checked by configuring one on the Eriba website and without knowing all the bits that van has I got to just 77kg of payload available.

It does make you wonder why Tebay would let an order like that go through without upgrading the axle to 1500 or 1600kg? Given all the expensive options fitted, a further £400 for a weight upgrade wouldn't break the bank.

Looking into this further it would seem that Hymer specify a maximum weight of options for a 642 on 1400kg MTPLM as 38kg.

From the sparse details and pics this one has:
Comfort Pack 9kg
Design Pack 1 9kg
ATC 5kg
Mover 35kg
White/silver exterior 5kg
Rear flap 1.5kg
Omnistor 39.5kg
Additional cushion 1kg
Shower equipment 3kg
Awning socket 1kg
Combi 4e 1kg
Carpet 8kg
Total options = 111kg, which knocks the empty weight up from MIRO of 1240kg to 1351kg, leaving just 49kg for everything else and any options I've not spotted. That's way over the 38kg that Hymer specify as the max for options and that would've had them query with AVL if the MTPLM should be increased.

I'm beginning to think that whoever has placed the ad doesn't actually understand its weights etc.
