Joining the discussion even later, as we’ve just bought the non-tour version after our lightweightOlpro canopy was battered by a squall at Pennine view and pulled out of the rail.
We picked ours up from Norwich camping for a bargain £650 incl. p&p. Manuf date is Dec 2023, so it’s relatively new design.
I’m sitting in it now, on a flat pitch, second time up this week, and it fits pretty well. I can’t quite understand why they all look like they’re taking a bow, presumably to ensure a fit on the older vans with the lower rails.
It has 4 roof ‘poles’and the removeable front and side. We removed them before we set off, and it helps refuce the weight, plus it’s a doddle to fold up when its only 2 dimensional.
To aid fitting, I made cords to clip on where the side and front would be, so I can get the main body pegged down before zipping them in.
I tried the foam spacers to pad the bottom of the main tube and make it look a little less drunk, but second time up I’ve used my corner-steady chocks upside down, just the right size.👍
My experiment without the silly gutter clip was quite definite in its conclusion; lots of rain running down the side, just where my power extension sits!
The carpet has a big flaw, as they do with all models in that it wont fit under the main beam because of the nylon cross-tension strap. It may be getting modified when we get home, but I am also considering cutting the strap and pegging short lengths near the beam itself, under the carpet. Of course I would need another cord to make sure the wide is correct.
I’ll post some photos over the weekend,; just thinking about adding the front canopy..

To be fair, our 2023 PopAir Pro (also from Norwich Camping, but at full price then!) looked like it was taking a bow on our 2005 Triton too! Yet to try it on our 2016 Troll. I know it will be too short, but it's worth trying before spending out to replace it!
We cut our cheap carpet to fit the layout - i.e. round the beams. It works fine like that.

Thanks, that all sounds pretty positive, plus it sounds like the seal (of some sort) is essential. Look forward to seeing your photos.
Sounds like good idea to remove the front and side door and using a cords to keep distances for pitching. Any detail on the cords would be great. Hadn’t heard anyone mention your issue about the carpet, but will bear that in mind. Thanks again.
Cheers

We had a Triton before and bought a 340 PopAir Pro to fit it - our new (to us) Troll 540 is longer, so the awning will finish across the rear window, rather than just past it. If we had bought a Troll 530 it would have fitted the same as the Triton, because the door is further to the rear on that model... I want to try the one we have to see if we can live with it, otherwise we face a big financial hit to change an awning that has hardly been used. We don't mind it if the window can't be used, as we hardly ever open that one, but it may throw up other issues in use that we haven't foreseen.

Hi Simon & John
Re the Kampa strip I am one of those that puts it on at the start of the season and leaves it on until the end, when I take it off again. It is such a tight fit that it doesn't move at all. We did a three week tour of Scotland in June and I checked it when we got home and it was still solid. I couldn't imagine taking it off after every trip and then replacing it for the next one.
I remember when I first got it I just couldn't fix it on to the rail at all and was one of those on the Forum who questioned it's usefulness with some ribald comments..........! I thought that it was impossible to fit
However I discovered a method of doing it and now get it fixed in a few minutes with no problem. Strangely when Colin's recommendation from SealsDirect came I couldn't get that to stay on at all - weird isn't it. Hence why I gave it to someone to use.
With the Kampa strip I give a plentiful spray of silicon oil on the rail and inside the strip. I then get the steps out so I am above the rail, put on a pair of strong, thick gardening gloves, start at the rear of the Troll, angle the strip slightly and push down, doing a little bit at a time. This works every time and the connection is solid - hence why I leave it on.
I guess it shows how we are all different
Cheers
Mike

I can see the attraction of leaving it on if it's that reliable. What makes me think about doing that is that I have once put our awning up and then realised I had forgotten to fit the strip... It was forecast to possibly rain (of course), so I tried fixing it from either end, using my step/box to reach as far as I could, then reaching through the triangular roof vent to fit the middle. It is possible to do it that way - but only with the Seals Direct version, I'm sure!
