For the first time ever we have cancelled a site booking because of predicted stormy weather - are we getting to be wimps?
late last night, after watching the news, we decided to cancel tomorrow's four day stay at Kendal C & MC site because of the threat of very high winds & torrential rain as part of Storm Floris. If you know the site it is on a densely wooded hill beside the River Kent, that can have a tendency to flood.
This strange summer we have been buffeted by high winds at the lovely Stonehaven site and then battered by a storm on top of Culloden Moor when we had to drop the pop-top at 3.00 in the morning. We decided that we didn't need another sleepless night listening to the trees grown and being nervous about things being blown on top of us.
Are we getting too careful in our dotage - in our 30 years of tent camping I can never remember us cancelling a booking? Perhaps its related to our seemingly increasingly erratic weather.
Good luck to those of you out there in it...................
