Water pump help

This is probably a dumb newbie question, but we are new to caravanning, so I suppose that’s expected. We got this Whale water pump with the caravan:

And there’s a socket like this on the side next to the water inlet where it looks like it should fit.

But when I try to insert it, it’ll only go in this far, which isn’t enough to engage the pump. It seems like the pins are a bit too big to fit in the socket.

I figured maybe there’s a mix up and it’s a different brand of socket (e.g. Truma) but I popped it out to take a look and there no branding on it at all so impossible for me to tell.

Any idea what the problem is? Thanks in advance!

One pin is bigger than the other, have you got them the right way round?
If so, then I’d turn off the power and poke a pin in there to make sure there’s no blockage.

Yep right way round and no blockages. Seems like it *should* fit but just doesn’t quite.

Was wondering it maybe there are two similar but subtly different standards?

Or it looks like it should fit?

What's the end of the Whale blue hose look like on the pump? The pump end is the same as my plug-in Whale pump that I use with my Aquaroll, but it has a very different end... I guess yours doesn't take the water through the wall of the caravan in the same fitting? How does the water get into your onboard tank?

I just found the attached picture whilst browsing the site, so it defo looks like it's a Whale connection point...

Hi,
From the hi-res photos all looks to be as it should. Looks like a newish van so can probably discount old broken pins in the hole.
Fat pin to top, thinner one to bottom as it appears you are attempting.
I’m on pump no 3 and haven’t had any issues.
It might be worth popping in to your nearest caravan accessories with the pump and check it against a new kit - the sockets are usually included with the pump.

Steve, when I saw the yellow I thought "new van", but the very untidy mastic makes me think that cannot be a factory or dealer fit and I'm wondering if the installation is a problem.
