Many congratulations Tony and welcome to the club.

I retired last October and found it a very strange experience to start with, but you get used to it and it is FAB!!

'Today is the first day of freedom' Mrs SDA said to me when I retired. 'After you've finished the washing up, could you VAC downstairs, load the washing machine, clean the windows, paint the ding room, prune the apple tree, tidy the garage .......' Happy retirement Tony.

Welcome to the 'in-between life', Tony. You're young at heart but slightly older in other places, you're not young - not dead - but somewhere in between. At this time in life you start speeding when driving before you forget where you're going. Happy Hour now means taking a nap and being retired means you'll never get a day off. Above all, be nice to the kids/grand kids as they'll be the ones choosing the Nursing Home. Other than that - ENJOY.

Can't wait to join you only 1 year 10 months to go but keeping Kim working as she's a bit younger than me.
I think Kim's planning for me to be a house husband and do all the house work but my plans are travel on my own wandering around Africa, Middle East and India.

Tony strange as this may sound you will now have to get used to NOT going to work, some people miss the work others miss being with their workmates.
Most find the adjustment a little strange to start with but I'm sure you will soon get used to it.

I had what can only be described as a 'long run in' to retirement.

I took voluntary redundancy from a job I loved with NatWest and assumed I'd be snapped up elsewhere. Fat chance!

More than two years job searching found me temping at Lloyds TSB Black Horse Vehicle Management where I went permanent, but shortly afterwards they announced they were closing the office. Desperate not to have another period out of work I jumped when they asked if I'd become an HR Redeployment Consultant and spent five years at it. Eventually I got disheartened with all the make work HR processes and politics and asked to leave. They were happy to let me go provided they didn't have to pay me redundancy. So I slid gentle into the night.....

That was eight years ago and I've not regretted it.
