Gone to the dogs

What is it with GB today and especially the Beeb? Has the whole country gone to the dogs? Is it only me, a Welshman that cares if the Union Flag is displayed upside down?

Right now, Gabby Logan is hosting a live show to celebrate the "Olympic Heroes". As she sits around a table discussing GB's success with some Olympic Gold Medalists, the floral table centre display has three Union Flags upside down

I think the only solution for this and future generations is to put a small red dragon in the centre. Either that or a "This Way Up Sign".

The wonders of Facebook and Twitter. Mrs R complained to both the BBC and Gabby Logan and when we just looked back in at the programme the flags have mysteriously disappeared.
We could still argue about the cups though if the handles represent the pole

Its the same with the language Auntie beeb always used to be relied on to use proper English, now you regularly hear words like brexit and staycation neither of which is a proper word.

They are both proper words, like "nato", "jeep", "laser" etc. Just because they are not yet in the dictionary does not make them invalid. Our language is constantly evolving and if it wasn't, we'd still be speaking like Chaucer or grunting like apes!

If you look on-line on the Oxford living dictionary website, you'll find all those words.
There is no thing as proper English. Think about all the countries where it's spoken from the U.S., Australia, India....... The infuences are strong and to be celebrated, IMHO.

Oops it's happened again !

Last night's episode of "The Missing" (BBC 1. 9:00pm) sees two of the searchers visiting a Military Cemetery in Hanover where the large Union Flag is flying upside down

Come on BBC. Stiff upper lip and all that but GET YOUR FINGER OUT !!!!!

YOU are dead right Roger The way the presenters just speak with huge pauses between the words is catching and the emphasis THEY give to adjec tives.................nouns and what ever is very annoying.

Robert Preston ITV is one of the worst offenders of this type of vocal delivery. He makes me cringe !
