Travel Insurance

Following my hospitalisation in Scotland at the end of the Meet ( it was gallstones not excessive socialising with fellow Eriba owners) my quotes have increased alarmingly. What companies does everyone else use, open to suggestions? It’s making us seriously think about staying in the UK at the moment.

I found Direct Line to be competitive - 2/3 the price of Saga for what I think is the same sort of cover. But, as you know, Insurance is such a subjective thing when it comes to quote for individual cases...

Best of luck!

Hi Julie
Why not try CMC Red Pennant.

Don’t panic, or curtail your foreign travel plans yet! We both have significant recent medical issues and were dismayed that the European travel insurance premiums with the mainstream companies we have used for years suddenly rocketed. Someone suggested that this was because they didn’t really want to take the business, but that other specialist companies would be happy to. A search for “travel insurance with medical conditions” or similar will show several providers. It’s rather depressing to have to complete the quote applications by listing all your frailties but on only the third site visited we got a very reasonable quote with a reputable company which we have continued to use.

Thanks all, I’m trawling the net. So far what seemed like a huge hike from our current insurers is looking not so bad compared to other quotes. Although Red Pennant does seem like a good package at a fair price and depending where you are travelling you don’t even have to tell them of your existing conditions as long as you are fit to travel.

Admiral beat off all the competition for us despite both of us being wonders of modern medical science! Worth a look.
