EOC Spring Rally

Anyone going?
I’m looking for a bit of help. Neil has injured his thumb and his right hand is in a cast and therefore useless. I think I’ll be ok towing the van to the Rally but the question is, do I take the awning? I can’t manage it on my own, if someone is going and can help me put it up then I’ll take it. If not we’ll have to manage without it.

Thanks Rory. Yes I need a tall (ish) man just to get it into the awning channel. It’s an air awning so it’s very heavy. Once it’s in the inflating and pegging out is manageable.
Thanks again for the offer.
Of course if it’s raining you’re going to be cursing me 😂

Thanks Steve for the kind wishes. He sliced through the base of his thumb with a saw, severing the tendon by 90%. He will be in the cast for up to 12 weeks so he’s very fed up but Royal Derby who did the op are very hopeful of a full recovery. It’s postponed our Spring outing to Europe, we were going straight from the EOC rally but it will be September now. It didn’t seem sensible to go with only one driver.

Thank you both but I think for modesty’s sake the erecting of an awning ought not to be undertaken whilst wearing a dressing gown 😂 😲
I’m very grateful for both of your kind offers and will be taking you up on it, it’s just lifting the blasted thing up into the awning rail that I can’t manage.

Hi Julie

Just to hopefully cheer you up our son David did something similar when he was at University in Newcastle and had to have an emergency operation to re-attach things.

His was caused by a standing bedroom mirror that decided to stop standing rather than a saw. After a long recovery and doing the painful exercises that he was given he got the full use of his hand again. Let's hope Steve is the same and back to hauling up heavy air awnings into the rail soon.
