New for old cover makes a big difference; £38k replacement value!
So glad we kept that last year though as we’d have been well short with the replacement.

To add a footnote to this thread, I have today (23 June, 2025) received an email from Ping Insurance advising me that my policy is due for renewal on 05 May 2025 but that I am no longer eligible to reinsure with them due to "age of caravan."

What a totally bloody pointless communication.

I said in my opening comment that I didn't know whether Ping were any good, well I do now but I'll leave you to draw your own conclusions.

I'm with Coast Insurace for my 430GT 2002 and £11,000 for caravand, £1500 for motor mover, £800 for contents, total cover £13,300 with premium of £161.

Below are the prices I have paid over the years. Never had to claim which is always a worry but if the insurance company is reputable then one should be OK as long as you have faithfully answered and declared relevant information.

Cover with Coast and Twoergate is exactly the same and as you can see Coast Insurance at £161 for 2024/2025 is still less than Towergate at £191 in 2017. Yes SEVEN years time difference.

Coast Insurance - £161.77/2024,£184.84/2023,£146.34/2022,£146.30/2021,£132.05/2020,£132.05/2019,£132.05/2018,£132.06/2017)
Towergate Insurance - (£191.75/17,£187.35/16,181.87/15,£197.92/14)

Nick, up until recently.like you, we had no need to "shop around" as Towergate gave us consistent annual quotes similar to yours which included travelling abroad.

However, eventually we were tempted to move to Saga because of thier good reputation when dealing with serious claims from one or two friends on here. Our decision to move was also backed up by a keen quotation.

A few years later and the CRiS question came up and also the age question for our Troll. It's a 1999 model.

We have been with Caravan Guard for the last couple of years. £182 for Troll with European cover, and since purchasing the 1995 Puck as well, that comes in at £106 for UK travel only and this year's quote remains the same. £10,000 on the Troll and £6000 on the Puck.

The only problem with Caravan Guard is that normally they'll only insure caravans up to 30 years old but they took the Puck on before its 30th birthday and because we have remained with them they will continue to offer us insurance for her.

Hi Randa. I just updated my post with correct insurance figures for 2024/2025.

Coast Insurace for my 430GT 2002 and £11,000 for carav and, £1500 for motor mover, £800 for contents, total cover £13,300 with premium of £161.

The only age limit is 15 years on New For Old policies. Cover includes:

Protection For Fire, Flood And Storm Damage
Theft And Accidental Damage Cover
Alternative Accommodation
European Cover Included
£2 Million Public Liability
‘New For Old’ Policies Available For Caravans Up To 15 Years Old, Even If They’ve Been Bought Second-Hand, Provided Sums Insured Are Sufficient
Accidental Damage
Optional Equipment And Awning Cover
Loss Of Use £50 Per Day Up To £1,500
Recovery And Delivery Expenses
Personal Accident Up To £20,000
Cost Of Returning Your Touring Caravan Home If No Member Of The Party Is Able To Drive Following Illness, Or Accident To The Insured

Like everyone else I hate insurance company / policy choices as they are all a PITA. I think they deliberately make life difficult in cahoots with each other to maintain existing clients. House contents insurance is the worst as getting a policy with a high single item unspecified limit is really hard.
