Servicing disaster with cutlery drawer................!!!

We now use a local caravan servicer rather than driving all the way to Tebay (who we were very happy with).

Kath emptied the van all except the cutlery drawer. We have had problems with it coming out in transit for a number of years and we simply hold it in with some gaffer tape whilst travelling. The engineer is only 5 minutes away so she didn't get me to gaffer it up - big mistake as the roads in Clitheroe are similar to those "4000 holes in Blackburn Lancashire" referred to by the Beatles in "A Day in the Life"......................

We got there and as Kath opened the door we saw our not insignificant cutlery collection all over the floor but worse the drawer door had somehow become detached. Before it had always stayed on so we just put it back on but not this time..................the engineer hadn't fettled Eriba Touring furniture before and was really busy with the forthcoming Bank Holiday so would he need it to come back in to look at it. Foolishly my response was don't bother I will sort it...................

What a mistake as the door fittings were incredibly fiddly and probably over-engineered - I could get both of them on individually but not at the same time. I concluded that there must be some clever secret Eriba engineers technique that I was not privy to. Kath banned me from the obvious solution of drilling through the front of the drawer.

After a couple of days fruitless, frustrating and unsuccessful fiddling half an hour ago I dug out the Gorilla contact adhesive and stuck them. We will see what tomorrow brings when I see if it has worked and if the drawer will go back successfully

Long live gaffer tape...............
