A bit more info from my efforts of trying to find out how things work.

The van was wired I have to imagine by Hymer in the factory for both terrestrial and satellite. I decided I wasn’t interested in satellite as I use a firestick and broadband. So I re adapted the satellite wiring as a secondary terrestrial system to use with a seperate mast type aerial and booster which works fine but only used a couple of times.
I’ve TV aerial connections on the wardrobe side the front dinette scuttle (original location) and the awning socket..

I have to say the Fusion radio that was part of the media kit is brilliant and totally over specified. These radios and speakers are made for the marine market for use on outside decks. The radio has a water proof cover🤷🏻‍♂️
The numerous Garmin booklets that come with van advise against pressure washing the radio and speakers and recommend just using a bucket of hot soapy water🤣

Hi Ian,

Thanks for taking the time to send all that info - lots to think about. The factory position for mounting the DAB radio/bluetooth headunit would not work as a retrofit because the facia (below the dinette double socket/usb) is already cut out to form a storage cubby - whereas yours would have been solid & allowed the aperture to be cut to suit the radio.
Does the small external antenna give you DAB & TV signal?
Do you know how the aerial cables are routed through the solid rear roof?
Are they visible on the inside?

Sorry for all the questions (again).

Andrew

Hi Andrew, good points and questions!

I thought I could gain access to the aerial mounting through the rear right hand side upper cupboard where the pictures of the cable are. but whilst close i could not quite get there. I think I would have to remove the rear 'head lining' to do that. maybe some one else could advise me. so the aerial was obviously a factory fit as part of the media pack 2.

The aerial does provide both DAB and TV through the first module/splitter 2656187 the input comes directly from the combo flex mounted roof antenna. In my case the TV output from the splitter goes to another splitter 256188 which provides 2 TV outputs,. one ultimately went to the front of the van the second went to the awning socket (Only Hymer had omitted to make a connection between the Fakra connector ant the end of the routed cable and the TV coax connector on the outside awning socket. (which was the cause of me trying to find out how it was all connected.

The Fusion radio end has another large DAB module that connects to the radio. Next time I take the radio out Ill take a picture of it for you. (this will be soon as I am going to mount 2 Fusion speakers in the front dinette seat panels)

For TV use the antenna/arial receives a 'phantom power supply of 5V) this comes from in my case the CELLO TV. Go to settings - Channel - Antenna5V to activate.
