Can't answer your question but want to comment that the "Herzim" strip is just decorative and does not keep the water out. Your scews should be individually sealed already.

There was a post on this forum recently about filling such gaps (also called "Herzim Strips") - John England posted that you could stretch the existing herzim strip and glue it in place. That was for for a 2' gap I seem to recall. I'm not sure how far you can realistically stretch it. The link is here:

Herzim strip

I had a similar gap and I just bought some off-the-shelf 12mm white herzim strip, it looks Ok from a distance, however it is not actually the same as the Eriba one, which has a double ridge all the way along that (I suppose) centres it in the groove. I'd photograph it to show you, but my Troll's back in the storage unit at the moment. I'll add one when I can.

Thanks for that yes I've just purchased some 12mm Herzam strip from seals +direct it fits in the grooves ok but it does sit out proud of the existing strip so I assume Hymer must use a different thickness of Herzam strip .

Thanks for that ....my only concern was if water could get in through the awning rail screw I've got some Herzam strip it does sit proud of the rail so I may put it in or leave it because it doesn't look great not fitting flush to the existing strip many thanks ....Phil.

I'm guessing the width being to great is making the middle curl up and sit a bit proud. I would be tempted to plain the width down to 11mm and put a slight changer on the edges.

Herzim seems to be supplied in 11mm or 12mm generally. Kool Classics sell it in Red, White or Silver and it is 11mm wide. It is, also a different shape from the more generally available, rounded herzim strips. See attached photo

Cheers might try that it does cover the gap and the rail screw but it doesn't look right to me

For what it's worth, that looks very much like the OEM trim rather than Herzim (which is a brand name, though it seems to have done a Hoover and become a generic monicker).

I redid the waistband on our Troll a few years back with that stuff. It had two grooves, like that, and was a like-for-like swap out with the trim that had been on it when we got it at three years old.

Aunty Jean at Jandi said it was the proper stuff, and I had no reason to disbelieve her.

You just didn't.

Aunty Jean knew her onions, for sure. It's such a shame Jandi aren't still around.

Places that sell Herzim rather than the original gubbins make a big hoo-ha about having to boil it in water for three weeks to make it pliable enough to use without the aid of hot spoons, caulking gun nozzles, a full HAZMAT suit or forearms like Popeye's.

The stuff I bought from Jean slipped right in just like it knew where to go by itself.

Thank you M le Pew - correction noted - the stuff we put in the waistband and awning profiles is no longer to be called Herzim by us Eriba types. Makes sense it's a maker's name. Does the "proper' stuff have a name?

Or is like "Hoovers" and, therefore, all those similar profiles have become known as Herzim strips...

Oh dear - just looked and Kool Classics call the proper Eriba stuff... yes, you guessed it, Herzim strip...

It wasn’t meant to be an admonishment. Nothing like that at all. I’m sorry.

I don’t know what the OEM trim is called. I was aware that the Herzim stuff wasn’t the same as what was fitted at the factory, and that anecdotally it wasn’t as easy to fit.

How much was the stuff from Kool Classics, if you don’t mind me asking?

It was a little while ago now, but the trim from Jandi wasn't expensive at all.

£2.20 per metre

And I didn't take it as an admonishment - just amusing as always...

Thanks 👍

Haven’t got the chit from when I bought some, but I’m pretty sure it was pence a metre and not pounds and pence.

Hey ho

They know how to charge...

They also seem to post things to me by giving it to someone who walks all the way with the parcel. Actually, that would probably be quicker... I know that anything ordered from Hymer by an Eriba dealer takes weeks to arrive.
