Now to the restoration. I knew that the outer frame (the 20x20mm rectangular bar) was in need of attention, but end of the season it really showed how bad it was: big holes in several places. Therefore I started to pull everything out. The furniture is out, it went smooth. I am surprised how simple and solid it is constructed. Really intuitive.
So first issues revealed under the floor lining. there was water ingress on the rear right side (by direction of forward movement). I guess it is from the radio antenna which was added, but I will investigate further. Also the front has a lot of humidity. It comes both from the fridge vents ( I have to make some covers to put them on while driving) and from the front window.

Hi Randa, Can you please explain how to add pictures with a replay? I thought I would first have to upload to gallery and then use the link to place them in text. Sorry for the misunderstanding.
Update: I found the issue, I was using quick reply and did not have the buttons for adding pictures. All pics in the gallery can be removed, I can update the post adding the pictures there.

Hi No worries.

Here's the link to how to post pictures on a post. Not the easiest thing to do at first but it's quite easy when you get used to it. The images will have to be reduced by yourself before adding them. They need to be less than 1000pixels I think. I usually try yo reduce mine to about 200 to 400 pixels and they work fine.

How to include images in a post

Done, thank you. I did not have any issues with the picture size (they are large size, but file size is small). It's easy to work with them, I was used to another forum.
So, feast your eyes (yes, even with the rotten frame ones, I found it is a common issue). I will come with a lot of questions.
First one, when a restoration in done, wouldn't it make sense to use stainless steel screws? There are several areas prone to rusting, it was hard to remove some screws (floor, aluminum trim on the bottom).
Second, I am looking for some trim molds and seals. I found the centerline aluminum center trim at retrocaravanstuff, but I would also need the "bumper" side trim, door frame center trim and door seal.

Ah, and another funny story: first outing with the Bug. I changed the caravan plug to 13 pins, as there was a RED hanging wire. I thought it was for the fridge. Well, I got no rear lights. So I had to go through all the wiring, took me some hours, checking the connection box underneath, just to find out that the PURPLE wire which I thought was the Ground, it was actually for the fridge, and that RED is ground. Please note that I am electronics engineer working for automotive, and I am used to color standards like: Brown=Groung, Red=+12V permanent, Black=switched +12V, etc. I found that cars produced in France have different color standard, and that on first tows ground was actually coming from the tow bar...And I was wondering why the LED 12V lights did not work and why I had to swap wires on the bulb socket...

The FAQ at the bottom of the page says that the (per) file size limit is 2MB.

I had no idea what a 2MB image was in pixels, so I looked it up.

It's 699,050, so while it's just a whisker bigger than 1,000, it is only 699 times bigger.

If the image was square, it works out at 836x836. If it's rectangular, as long as the multiple of the long side by the short side is no more than 699,050 it'll work.

You mustn't forget two things.

Thing one: this forum is German, and the Germans are noted for their attention to detail.

Thing two: it isn't 1996 any more

So while I understand your desire to err on the side of caution, I don't think you'd break anything if your pictures were just a squeak bigger...

P.S. I'm not trying to undermine your authority. Never. In the interests of pan-European harmony, I'm just trying to make sure Wir singen alle vom selben Liedblatt.

Ah but I've got a very old computer and we are living in a place that doesn't always give us the wifi strength they claim we should have so by reducing the images so that they do enlarge enough on screen as to not affect the resolution too much then I am happy. I can't abide sitting in front of this screen watching the whirly wheel going round and around while it decides to load my image or not.

Eg. This one is 2000 x 1500 pixels and 893kbs IMG_8025.jpg - Bild entfernt (keine Rechte)

and this one is 1200 x 900 pixels and 350kbs S IMG_8025.jpg - Bild entfernt (keine Rechte)

Well, making everybody else struggle because your computer is thirty years old and you live at the bottom of a hole is one way of doing it, I suppose

Don't expect any sympathy. Your creaky equipment is of no concern to the rest of us...

Is your computer one of the very first ones with a floppy drive, by any chance?

Don't talk to Mrs R about floppy discs A true story when she first taught autocad to 18 year old mechanical engineers.

As for my computer, it's not that old and it did once have a good memory but like me, it's getting old and grouchy with a fast failing memory.

It is however a L A P T O P and a Dutch guy once told us on a campsite.

Well I may be naive and have missed the joke or you didn’t get to the punchline. So as my old Dad used to say “don’t keep us in suspenders” 🤔

Hey! I actually do have a computer with floppy drive near me (however not functional, I have to change some capacitors). But back to the original subject: we can upload larger size (in pixels) pictures as long as the file size is small enough.
I made a list of the parts I need:
20x20mm pipe
60x40mm pipe (lower door frame)
6mm TEGO
4mm plywood
floor insulation polystyrene
side insulation polystyrene
polystyrene glue
floor glue
resin (for sealing floor cuts)
flexible sealant (some type of silicone, maybe SIKA 529)
screws
various trims

I finished working on the chassis. Here are a few shots of the cut pieces.

And finished. The body panels were off during the repairs, now back on. I used epoxy primer and epoxy paint.
