Eriba Model 430 or Eriba Model 530

Dear Eriba Owners,

In the Autumn I intend to buy an Eriba. I'm still not sure if I should get the Triton 430 model size or the 530 Troll size. There will only be two people my wife and me using the caravan. We have experience with standard size caravans in the past and now wish to have something with more character and easier to tow and move around on site. I wonder if any owners have experience of both model sizes in the following areas. Is it necessary to get the electric mover or is it possible to move it manually on site. I want to include the onboard waste water tank and unfortunately this is not possible if you order the electric mover. Is there much difference in towing the bigger sized troll 530 as compared to the Triton 43 especially in small twisty backroads. Finally what is your opinion on the fixed bed v the extra seating area. Thanks in advance for your support - Michael

Towing the 530 (as a newbie) is easy, even on single track Devon roads where we are at the moment

Using a mover is always easier than manhandling a van but clearly the smaller the van the easier: I use a mover on the 530 and it makes putting the van in the garage down a sloping drive very easy (with little risk of damaging the van)

The onboard waste isnt necessary in my opinion: all drain points come out one hole making an external tank easy to locate, fill and empty.

The extra bed is useful for any (even unexpected) visitors you may have or just as space from your partner if wanted:)

Regarding the 430 or 530, it depends on what you will tow with, what you want to do (and where) and where you want to store it

Can you have an on board waste water tank?

Think about the 430 as having a 530 rear and a 540 front dinette, all in a slightly narrower body than a Troll.

In response to question about an onboard waste tank, yes, you can.

The 530 has a rear dinette option, so it can have, as I do, two dinettes and two bedding areas: I like the versatility

A waste water tank doesn't seem a good idea - I presume you'd have to take the whole van to an emptying point as you do with a motor home - not very practical!

Indeed, or else empty it into an external waste tank, so why bother?

The only situation I thought it might be useful is if an external tank could freeze, but reading the manual for the onborad waste tank it says to empty it if theres any chance of frost, so again, what's the point:)

Thanks for your information.
I now agree from your post and others that that the waste water tank is not necessary an is actually more cumbersome that an independent external tank.
I have the new model Dacia Duster 4x4. Its a 1.5 diesel engine.

Hope you are enjoying your time in Devon its a place I have on my visit list.

I've owned a 1000kg Triton, 900kg Famila, 1300kg Troll and currently tow a 1200kg Triton. I have noticed little difference in towing experience or fuel consumption between them. Yes progress is a little slower with the bigger van but equally it sits on the road better due to its 100mm extra width and you can feel it more, which makes it easier to reverse.
My present van is the first with a mover and I would now not have a van without one. You can move one by yourself, but on uneven ground, wet surfaces, slight slopes, that tricky move between gateposts etc they are a blessing.
We favour a fixed bed. It offers more storage for the lightweight stuff both on the move and when on site. Also that extra height means easier to get in and out of.
Onboard waste tanks I've never seen, although I have seen an outside one bolted to the underside of the floor. Why bother? We use a black bucket.

Has a towing capacity of 1500kg apparently, so can pull a 530 if needed I believe (1300kg, or 1400 if upgraded)
