I ain't no expert - it's only what I've picked up as I've gone along.

It's also funny how - mostly kids - who do use them as a phone don't hold them next to their ears any more; they hold them horizontally in front of their mouths so they can talk into the microphone end and listen with the speakers turned up.

What's that all about?

Wouldn't it be easier to hold it next to your ear the way it was designed?

I dunno.

In my case it is about being deaf and playing sound through my hearing aids.

Do you hold the phone as if you're whispering to a beetle in a matchbox?

They get that "holding it horizontal" thing from early seasons of The Apprentice - that's where it first appeared I think...

My thanks go to the folk who gave me all the above advice regarding using my smart phone for music. It's all working out fine. Perhaps there are a few other phone dinosaurs who also benefitted from the advice.

To top it off, I've purchased the following bluetooth speaker. I was not in a position to spend a lot of money on one and the one I finally decided on appears to give me all the quality and volume I need, especially for use when camping.

It has several very good reviews on You Tube and I am very happy with the quality so far. It has a good long rechargable battery life, plenty of volume and a range in excess of 10 metres. I could have done without the lights but they can be switched off. Easy instructions in good English but hard to read without a magnifying glass. Also a USB recharging lead and an AUX cable.

Here it is :- https://www.amazon.co.uk/HEYSONG-Bluetoo...b_title_ce?th=1
