Here's one for you Citroen buffs out there.
Firstly, is this a Citroen tow vehicle and if so, is it a Bedouin Africar kit car? We can't place it.

It's a VW Type 181, probably better known as a Thing. It actually says on the side just below the door, but it's v. fuzzy and difficult to read.

The other clue is the VW bucket by the back of the van.

Yrs attentively,

Hercule

Known as the 'Thing' in the US and the 'Trekker' in Europe it was an attempt to recreate the look of the iconic wartime Type 62 Kdf Wagen and Type 82 Kübelwagen (Bucket car) and was aimed at the youth market. It sold well in the USA but was not a success in Europe where the climate was against it.

Erwin Rommel said he owed his life to the Kübelwagen when his driver strayed into a British minefield in North Africa and the vehicle's light weight was insufficient to set off the anti-tank mines.

There's a couple who are friends of Eribafolk, who race them. Here's the link to the Flickr page. Hope it works. https://www.flickr.com/photos/watchthiss...8/in/pool-eriba

Have owned a 2CV4, 3x2CVs, 2Dianes, a2CV Belgian Post Office vans. They will always have a place in my heart!! We ceremonially buried my last Diane in a plot of land in Ireland.
